Pg While Big Ma does some business with Mr. Jamison, T.J. wants to show something to Stacey and Cassie. T.j. also wants to do a favor for Big Ma. T.j. and Stacey go. Cassie was going to stay on the wagon, but she didn’t want to stay all by herself. This shows the theme because Cassie went with Stacey to make sure he doesn’t get in trouble.

Pg T.J. went in the Logan’s house and told Stacey and Cassie about what happened to him. T.J. went with R.W. and Melvin to get the pistol from the Barnett’s mercantile. T.J. was going to tell on R.W. and Melvin when they messed with the Barnett’s, the two of the boys beat up T.J.. T.J. asked if Stacey and Cassie to take him home. As they walk out, Little Man and Christopher-John get up and want to go with them. Little Man and Christopher-John came with them for too, first is that they couldn’t go back to sleep. Another reason is that they want to make sure Stacey and Cassie are safe.

Pg When Cassie tells uncle hammer what Mr. Simms did to her, he grasped on to her shoulders and asked her what else he did to her. He told big ma that when you look into Cassie’s eyes she’s not hurt. Uncle hammer grabs his gun and then Mr. Morrison changed uncle hammer’s mind. This shows the theme we chose because uncle hammer wants to protect Cassie and try to teach Mr. Simms a lesson. He doesn’t want anyone to get hurt.

pg When Stacey was doing his history test, T.J. gave him cheat notes. When p.m. slipped the notes to Stacey, Stacey didn’t see Mama. After class, Stacey got whipped so T.J. ran out and went to the Wallace store. Stacey ran to the Wallace store, Little Man, Christopher-John and Cassie went and followed Stacey. They get in a fight. Little Man, Christopher-John and Cassie went to follow Stacey because they want to make sure he is safe. That is what brothers and sisters are for.

Pg Cassie bumped into Lillian Jean and she demanded for an apology from Cassie, then Mr. Simms pushed her to the ground and told her that she needed to apologize to Lillian Jean. Then Big Ma came and she told Cassie to apologize. This shows the theme I choose because Big Ma was protecting Cassie and Big Ma didn’t want anymore conflict with Mr.Simms.

Pg. 187 “Papa”, rasped Christopher-John, moving close to him, “M-Mama gonna be alright?” This quote shows this theme because Christopher-John wants to show if Mama is okay.
