2 The Capstone Project The Capstone Project is a culminating project that reviews all that the student has learned and applied during his or her academy studies. The student selects, or is provided with a topic that specifically relates to his or her academy strand. The student researches that topic according to the criteria provided by the academy instructor or academy leader. The student will present the complete assignment— project, to an audience of his or her peers, business leaders, community members, school faculty and staff. 10/23/2007 Stephania P. 5 The Capstone Project The Basics:  The paper must be double-spaced, with the exception of the abstract/executive summary and long quotes.  APA font choices allow the use of Times New Roman and Ariel. 8 The Capstone Project The Abstract/Executive Summary: Abstract The abstract is a one-page, concise summary of the essential details and elements of the research paper. 9 The Capstone Project The Thesis Statement: A thesis statement identifies the paper’s purpose and previews its primary themes or main ideas. The writer states his or her hypothesis, that will be proven (attempted) in the paper/research. The thesis is usually contained in one or two sentences.
