Strategy Implementation Readiness Assessment (SIRA) Introduction
Implementing your strategy is not an easy challenge. It is tough enough to create the right strategy, never mind implement it. More often than not—and despite all good intentions—its implementation fails to deliver the desired results. After creating your strategy, where and how do you start to implement it? Once you roll it out, how do you know where to take the right actions? Do you know where your strength and weaknesses are in your ability to implement your strategy? This tool helps you assess all the elements needed to execute your strategy successfully. 2
3
The Strategy Implementation Readiness Assessment (SIRA) is an assessment tool based on the Implementation Compass™ to identify your strengths, weaknesses and actions in preparation for implementing your strategy. 3
4
Your organization is unique and therefore your implementation is different than that of any other group. Using SIRA, you can build an implementation plan based on an assessment of your current implementation capabilities. By asking key questions under each of the eight areas and rating the answers, you can extract a “radar” picture and identify the right actions to set up a successful implementation. 4

Implementation Readiness Assessment™
Rating One is Low Ten is High Average 1. People Nurture those who do the work; it’s not the leaders but the people. How confident are you that you have the right calibre of people on board? How confident are you that they have the skills and knowledge to execute the new strategy? How much are they engaged in the implementation? 3 6 9 2. Biz Case Create a sense of urgency. How well do your staff members know what the new strategy is? How well do they understand why it is important? How motivated are they to participate in the implementation? 3. How well are leaders talking about the strategy at every opportunity and communicating what's going on? How well have messages about successes, best practices and lessons learned from the implementation experience been communicated on an on-going basis? 4. Measure Track the implementation’s progress with the right measures. How well have the new corporate-wide measures for the new strategy been identified to track the implementation success? How well are leaders adopting new measures in meetings? Do the new measures drive the right actions? 5

How prepared is the organization to adopt the new strategy? How well does the current culture support the new strategy? How well do all the leaders understand their company’s culture and how it impacts the implementation? 6. Process Change the way you work by aligning processes. How well do your processes support the new strategy? How ready are you to redesign your processes? How well do you know which processes need to be redesigned? 7. Reinforce Reinforce the expected behaviors so they are repeated continually. When staff members step into the unknown and demonstrate the new actions, how well are they recognized and rewarded? How well does your reinforcement encourage staff members to keep demonstrating the right actions? How well are you supporting and encouraging staff performance by being visible (e.g., walking around and leading by example)? 8. Review Review constantly to ensure the right actions are taken to deliver the right results. How often is the implementation reviewed and adjusted when required? How well are the actions taken producing the right results? How well do you know what has been learned from the implementation in the last 90 days? 6
