What is peer mentoring?

Purpose of the Peer Mentoring Program at Hollyfield?

“I wanted to become a peer mentor because I think it is very important to have a support network of pupils for younger pupils in place, because we have a greater capacity to empathise with them as we are much closer to them in age and have probably experienced quite a lot of the problems they are having with organisation, homework etc. As a result of this, we can offer them realistic advice that is achievable; and seeing it benefit them is very rewarding.” “I originally wanted to become a peer mentor because I joined mid-way through year seven, so I knew all too well what it was like to be lost and scared in a new school. I wanted to help people so they could have a better transition between schools. I’ve really enjoyed mentoring Year 7 students and helping other people sort out issues, because I feel like I have made a difference,”
