1. CESAR CHAVEZ!

2. Introduction
This man was one of the many, many people who believed in non-violent and civil rights. Chavez although ,felt that the immigrant grape pickers should have been treated fairly. Cesar was a man who fought for what he believed in ,and that’s ….just what he did.

3. Amazing
Cesar was a very inspiring person. He even inspires my family and me!
Chavez worked very hard for the civil rights movement. He too believed in non-violence .He was……AMAZING!!

4. Boycott
Cesar's first boycott was in San Francisco, California .When ships brought grapes as their cargo Chavez, told the horsemen that were suppose to unload the cargo to refuse.
They did because they to thought that the grape workers were being treated unfairly!

5. Cesar
As a child Cesar was very nice and generous because he knew what his parents had to face in the fields.
He always helped around the very, very small house that he lived in because he knew what how tired his parents were after work on the fields. As you can see Cesar was a very nice kid!

6. Devoted
Chavez was very devoted to his job he worked very hard for what he believed in. Like the non-violence ,and the grape pickers rights!
He knew his parents would be proud of him because they raised him very well!

7. Esperanza
Esperanza in Spanish means hope and that’s exactly what Cesar had. He had hope in what he was doing.
He didn’t know how far he would get but he certainly did get somewhere. He did this bye trying to get fair civil rights for the grape pickers .

8. Family
Chavez’s parents were lebrado and Juana Estrada Chavez .They had six children ,including Cesar!
They lived with Cesar's grandfather Cesario Chavez in a small town near Yuma, Arizona!

9. Grapes
Cesar Chavez worked very hard to help the Grape workers of California .He felt that they needed better working conditions.
Chavez held many meetings for the help of the grape pickers .He sometimes even visited the fields to talk with the workers and take a walk around.

10. Helena In 1948 he married Helen fabela…his one and only wife.
When they got married they moved into a one room shack in Delano, Florida. With Helena Chavez had six wonderful healthy babies!

11. Independent
Cesar was a very independent man .Although he always worked with big organizations he always liked following his own plans!
He loved working with others but he was very Independent!

12. Juana Chavez
Cesar once said in a book my mom kept the family together’’.
He said that she was the type of mom who had time for her children, he said that whenever they had a problem she would talk to them and try to fix their problems!

13. KKK
The kkk otherwise known as the klu klaux Klan were a big threat during the time of Cesar Chavez. The KKK are people who see other people very differently because of their skin color.
Including Hispanics. They would threat Cesar Chavez because of what he was trying to do.

14. Law
The law in Arizona was that a total of 437,000 Mexican farm workers (braceros) were imported for seasonal work in 1959 ,to people who grew cotton, vegetables, fruits, and sugar beets.
American workers got paid $829 for working 138 days Mexican workers got paid much, much less!!!!

15. Martin Jr. Luther King
Chavez loved Dr.Martin Luther king jr.'s book “Noncooperation With Evil”
Chavez was very inspired bye Dr.Martin’s Non-violence teachings. He felt that he to should work for a non-violence group!

16. (NFWA)
In 1962 Chavez founded the National Farm Workers Association. Otherwise known as the NFWA.
In 1965 the NFWA teamed up with the Agriculture Workers Organization Committee in a strike against grape growers in California.

17. Outcast
Cesar started school at age 7 his sister started at the same age but she dropped out around 6th grade ,she did this because she and her little brother Cesar…had no shoes.
Cesar although dropped out around 8th grade to work full time around the vineyards.

18. Pesticides
Chavez also worked hard just to make the vineyard workers stop using pesticides on the vegetables.
He did this because when the workers touched the vegetables they would have an allergic reaction or get I in their eyes.
They always had to be careful and not to touch their faces .

19. Quest
Cesar was on a quest to give civil rights to the vineyard workers.
He tried very hard to accomplish his dreams. He never backed down and worked hard and strong!

20. Rights
Chavez worked very hard for rights towards the vineyard workers .
He tried to make it for them to vote and to have better working conditions and better wages.
Almost like the unions that they formed in the 1900’s .

21. Spanish
As a child Chavez ONLY knew Spanish. This was because his parents were both full blooded Mexicans.
His parents only knew Spanish so Cesar went to school to try to learn more Spanish. This actually did help his parent’s Spanish!

22. Traveling Cesar and his family were migrant (traveling) workers.
They first lived in Yuma, Arizona but moved because of a harsh drought .
From there they moved to California for better jobs on the grape fields.

23. Un-stoppable
Cesar never stopped working. Many people thought he was an un-stoppable worker.
He was a great remodel for hard workers! He inspired everybody he met and never broke a single promise he made! He actually was…….un-stoppable !!!!

24. Voting Chavez wanted the Hispanic vineyard workers to be able to vote.
This was something many Hispanics could not do, but Cesar made it possible.
He worked very hard and tried to do everything he could just to make it right for Hispanics to vote!

25. Working conditions
Chavez dedicated his life to improving treatment ,pay, and working conditions for farm workers.
He knew all to well what hardships a farm worker would face, because he too as a child had a hard life on the fields.

26. X-cellent man
Cesar was a very ‘’x-cellent man’’! He always had something to do but still had a lot of time for his family
Yes people can say he was a very nice ,kind but very hardworking man!!!

27. Yuma Chavez was born on March 31 1927 in a small town near Yuma AZ.
His parents owned a small grocery store in Yuma ,that store was the only store in Chavez's town!
A fun fact is that half of Yuma was related to Cesar!!!

28. Zesty Chavez was a very zesty man or in other words happy.
He always had a smile on his face and he was happy to help others!

29. conclusion
Cesar was a very hard working man. He never gave up on what he believed in .That's what got him to where he was then and where he still is now. We will never forget about the man who spent almost every day on the vineyards.
