Math Department Focus Areas High Level Tasks Task predicts performance; if we increase the cognitive demand of the work students are engaged in, their learning will increase. Fluency All students need to compute knowledge of procedures, knowledge of when and how to use them appropriately, and skill in performing them flexibly, accurately, and efficiently. Conceptual Models and Tools Leverage vertical coherence; the connections in math will strengthen understanding and allow for reason and intuition. 2

Foundational Standards When we remediate, we still want the standards and progressions to provide guidance. The foundational standards are included in the overview of each module. 3

Problem Sets There is no time built into the math block for review of the Problem Set (Homework). 4

Mid-Module Assessments The assessments are rich and long. Teachers can collaborate to: Use specific questions from assessments in tutorial Re-teach key concepts based off data 5

Conceptual Models and Tools Tutorial can be a place to reinforce these. Additional Resources: Singapore Math 6

Technology LearnZillion is putting together SCSD aligned content for each module. This will include videos and problems for students. 7
