Changes for Plan Year 2016

Changes to TRS The employee retirement contribution for TRS members will increase from 6.7% to 7.2% effective 09/01/2015.

Changes to TexFlex A new administrator for TexFlex has been announced. ADP and has a 4 year contract that begins September 1, 2015. The Annual Limit for a Health Care Reimbursement Account will increase from $2,500 to $2,550.

Changes to Optional Life and Disability benefits ERS has announced a new formula for calculating faculty salary and premiums for Optional Life and Disability benefits effective 09/01/2015. The 9 month annual salary will now be divided by 12 months.

Changes to who can be covered Following the U.S. Supreme court’s ruling on June 26, 2015, regarding same-sex marriage, employees will be able to enroll their same-sex spouses and dependent step children of those spouses in the same coverages and services, and at the same cost as opposite-sex spouses.

Health Select Plan Changes Health Select will have a combined out-of-pocket maximum for medical and pharmacy benefits effective January 1, 2016. As a result, pharmacy deductibles will now reset at the start of every calendar year rather than plan year. Under Health Select of Texas in-area plan, there is a total out-of-pocket maximum limit of $6,450 for individuals and $12,900 for families. Referrals will no longer be required to see ophthalmologists, regardless of whether the service is an annual eye exam, a diagnostic exam or treatment. Coinsurance and inpatient hospital copay maximums stay the same. The mental health office visit copay is reduced from $40 to $25.

ERS Online Go to www.ers.state.tx.us www.ers.state.tx.us Click on the green access my account button on the top right side of the ERS home page. Click on the Yellow Register Button in order to create a user name and pass word. Return to the ERS online screen and sign in. Click on Benefits enrollment in order to enter summer enrollment changes.
