The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan National priorities in the development of higher and postgraduate education: National priorities in the development of higher and postgraduate education: 1. High quality development of the three-cycle model of specialists’ training; 2. Organization of the academic process of the universities on the basis of credit technology; 3. Development of the Kazakhstani credit transfer system in line with the ECTS; 4. Development of academic mobility; 5. Development of the system of education quality assurance – specialized and institutional accreditation; 6. Introduction of principles of the corporate management at the higher educational institutions; 7. Active participation of the Kazakhstani higher educational institutions in various national and international ratings.

The following types of accreditation have been developed in the Republic of Kazakhstan: - Institutional accreditation - Specialized accreditation 9 higher educational institutions have passed the national institutional accreditation The national model of accreditation has been developed

The number of elective disciplines has been increased in order to expand the academic freedom of the higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The HEIs have a right to choose 60-70% of content of the educational programs The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan
