REJECTION (vs. 30) – So they were seeking to arrest him (vs. 32) – The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
10
JOHN 7:30b …but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
11
JOHN 7:44 Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him
12
JOHN 19:10-11 So Pilate said to him, "You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?" Jesus answered him, "You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above…
13
Luther Who is Christ’s protector? Who fends off his enemies? No one. …Nothing is said about many thousands of mounted soldiers or about thirty thousand foot soldiers who defended him. No, his entire armor is a little hour granted him until his crucifixion. That hour was not yet at hand, and since it was not, all the designs of his enemies against him were futile.
14
JOHN 7:25-27 Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, "Is not this the man whom they seek to kill? And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ? But we know where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from."
15
JOHN 7:41b-42 But some said, "Is the Christ to come from Galilee? Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
16
JOHN 7:17 If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.
17
JOHN 7:28-29 "You know me, and you know where I come from. But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know. I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me."
18
JOHN 7:33-34 Jesus then said, "I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come."
19
JOHN 5:23 Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
20
JOHN 5:42-43 But I know that you do not have the love of God within you. I have come in my Father's name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.

MacArthur Hell is, after all, itself truth discovered too late…part of hell is suffering for sin. Hell is also resentment…hell is also eternal regret without remedy. Everlasting remorse without hope…Hell is not where Christ is forgotten. It is where He is unavailable.”
22
RECEPTION (vs. 31) – Yet many of the people believed in him. They said, "When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?" (vs. 40-41a) – When they heard these words, some of the people said, "This really is the Prophet." Others said, "This is the Christ."…
23
Deuteronomy 18:15 "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers--it is to him you shall listen—
24
JOHN 1:21 And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."
25
Acts 18:9-11 And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, "Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people." And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them
26
RESPECT (vs. 45-49) – The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why did you not bring him?" The officers answered, "No one ever spoke like this man!" The Pharisees answered them, "Have you also been deceived? Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed."."…
27
REACHING (vs. 50-52) – Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, "Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?" They replied, "Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee."
