2 Seeing ‘Mad Cash’ in Online Advertising By Alana Semuels, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer Today, companies are understanding that digital media is a viable business. “It is like it is 1950 and someone just realized you can sell advertising on television” Online advertising increasing rapidly –Predicted that the amount spent on online advertising in the US will rise from $21.7 billion in 2007 to $50.3 billion in 2011. Not very effective yet –Current issue with online advertising is that companies are placing their advertisements on websites that are not visited by their target market.

3 Solution The Rubicon Company –Does “The Basics” of media planning for the internet media option –Provides websites with the advertisements that pay the best as well as are the most relevant to their readers –This allows websites to make money, and also provides advertisers with an effective place to reach their customers Companies like Rubicon will make the internet advertising media option a more effective one –Can reach specific target audience without wasting money on ineffective advertising spaces
