What is It? The Career Center offers Arlington High School Students: –Career & Technical Classes –Hands-on Learning with Industry Professionals –Industry-Standard Technology –College Credit while in High School

Who goes to the Arlington Career Center? Most students take Career Center classes as two-period electives and take buses from and back to their home schools. Classes for grades 3 – 12 also are offered on Saturdays, early release Wednesdays and during the summer.

ACC Opportunities 1) RELEVANCE – Real-world experiences such as internships, mentoring and job shadowing. 2) RIGOR -- Academic and technical integration, including SOL and competency achievement. 3) STRETCH PROJECTS – Culminating hi-level community, client and senior projects. 4) COLLEGE NOW – College enrollment and credit while in high school, expediting a 2-year degree and connecting to 4-year colleges and universities. 5) RELATIONSHIP – Multiple opportunities in school and the community for leadership and service. Arlington Career Center 23 Programs 9 Clusters 150 full-time students 1,000 The Governor’s Career & Technical Academy Arlington (GCTAA) Academics GCTAA part-time students CTE Electives 150 dual-enrolled in 14 CTE classes SDV100 Dual-Enrolled CTE iSTEM Bundles 3-Year Implementation Plan The Governor’s Academy grows to 150 students receiving college credit through 14 different dual-enrolled CTE classes. Academy staff focus on remediation and integrative STEM approaches. Math-in-CTE is used as a model for staff development and iSTEM lesson plans. 2009 Community College Northern Virginia Academic Academy HILT Institute EBCE 400 students given COMPASS placement exam
