Advantages of wind energy
Wind is a kinetic form of energy. Wind is renewable energy resource- as long as Sun exists, wind will too. Producing of it is growing all over the world mainly in Europe because of its advantages. -the low cost of production -the protection of environment. In 2006 we used the strength of the wind, produced MW energy all over the world. It is less than 1% of the current consumption in the world.
3
How can we generate electricity from wind energy?
By WIND TURBINES Turbines powered by wind are mounted on towers one hundred or more feet above the ground , where the wind is faster and less turbulent.
4
How does wind turbine work?
Wind turbines have huge blades mounted on a tall tower. The blades are connected to a nacelle, or housing, that contains gears linked to a generator. As the wind blows, it transfers some of its kinetic energy to the blades, which turn and drive the generator.
5
How can we use wind energy in our household?
National grid distributes power around the country.
6
The benefits of private wind turbines
Cut the electricity bill: Wind is free Get paid for what you generate: what you don’t use you can export to the local grid- and get paid for that too. Cut your carbon footprint: wind electricity is green, renewable energy. Store electricity for a calm day: you can store excess electricity in batteries.
7
We visited a private wind farm in Sokołów
They used the produced energy mainly for watering farm lands and for drying vegetables.
