1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. Business card On my business card I have a colour scheme which matches the colours in my logo. This looks good because it shows that I have considered the design of my business card and made something which looks professional. My card includes lots of contact information such as my phone and fax numbers and email so anyone who has my card can get hold of me quickly if they needed to. It also includes my business address so if they want to write or visit then they have all the details in a handy sized card. It includes my name and job title so they can remember who I was and what my role is in tyhe company. This will help them work out if I am the person they wish to contact or if it is somebody else. Finally, it includes my logo so they can remember my company and what it sells.

1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. Letter My letter includes my logo and the company name all in colours which match the general design of the letter and logo itself. This makes my letter look really professional and also gives a consistent approach for both my business card and letter. It also includes lots of contact information like my address, phone, fax and email. This is so that people can read what the letters about and contact me quickly in a way convenient to them.

1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. Newsletter My newsletter includes a total of 9 articles which include pictures, articles and titles. These make the newsletter interesting because then people can read about new technology and this will make them more likely to come and buy things from my business. I have included my logo and contact information to help people recognise my company, what is does and how to contact us. All of the colours in my newsletter match the business card because this has made it looks nice and professional and would be instantly recognisable. For this reason I used the same colour scheme again so everything would match. I also wrote a paragraph about my company so everyone knows what it is about and that we care about customer service.

I have used the templates available in Publisher so that I can create a wide range of publications in a quick and simple way whilst maintaining a theme. I used the same design for my business card, letterhead, and newsletter so that anyone recieving information from me will recognise that its been sent from my business. If I used a different design for one of my products then someone might not know and it wouldn’t look as professional because it wouldn’t match. I used a colour scheme which matched my logo so it looked even more professional. I thought it would be silly to have a logo and colkour scheme which are different as no real companies have different colours. I think my business card, letterhead and newsletter look good because I used the same template and the same colours. The logo matches everything and that makes it look good because it matches. 1.2 I can describe how to change page design and layout to increase effectiveness of a publication.

2.3 Describe how copyright constraints affect use of own and others’ information. The copyright design and patents act and it was passed in 1988. This act was introduced to protect the investment of time and money and effort by the people who create original pieces of work. This can mean authors of books, composters of music, filmmakers, game designers and many more can protect their work from anyone copying it. In my own work I have followed copyright law because the logo I made was from vistaprint and I referenced this in my source and store table. The articles used in my newsletter were also referenced as I used them but didn’t write them myself. I referenced them by putting the website they came from into a research document.

2.4 I can describe which file format to use for saving designs and images..PUB – stands for publisher- used for letters, newsletters and you can edit any templates to make it they way you want..PDF – portable document folder anyone can read this. This saves things as a small file size and doesn’t need the software that it was created by..JPEG/.JPG – it stands for Joint Photographic Experts, it is a compressed image file but still gives really good quality in a small file size, its the most common picture format and is used from pictures you download..PNG - small to medium file size, designed to replace GIF. It is slowly growing in use. The PNG format also supports 24-bit colour like the JPEG format..PSD – photo shop document you also need photoshop to open the file. Files can be big in the size way. The files will be really good quailty. You can take photos.TIFF - very large file size, primarily used in the print industry.

Publisher is a type of software we can use to create newsletters, posters, leaflets etc using a wide range of different templates, themes and colours. Publisher can be a useful timesaving tool but it can also be frustrating because if you make something using publisher and send it to someone who doesn’t have it, they wont be able to open what you’ve sent them. This can be avoided if they save the publisher file as a PDF. PDF files mean that you don’t need a specific bit of software to open the file. This can be useful because even if you don’t have it you can still view what they are sending. Photoshop files are similar because you need Photoshop to view the files. You can avoid this with PS files by saving them as a JPEG, TIFF or PNG. Each of these are different in terms of quality and file size and often there will be a file type which is most suitable to the work you want to do. In my work I saved my logo as a PNG because its saves images with a transparent background and also is good quality but quite a small file size. 2.4 I can describe which file format to use for saving designs and images.
