Business Studies Business Studies is the study of exactly how businesses work, analysing activities such as marketing, production, HRM, finance and management. It is vocational in that it gives students key skills which are vital within a business organisation However it is also highly academic and it is not an easy option.

Organisations: A look at how different types of organisations (profit and non- profit) grow, operate,and organise themselves. The External Environment: This examines how political, environmental, legal and technological factors affect businesses of different types in different places. Business Studies

Human Resource Management: Another important section examines the changing ways in which companies are recruiting, training, motivating and managing their people. Accounting and Finance: This section of the course will show you how businesses manage day-to-day finances Business Studies

Operations Management: How do companies actually produce the goods and how can quality be achieved? Marketing: Advertising and promotion, Product design, market research, distribution, pricing and marketing strategies will all be examined here Business StudiesBusiness Studies

HL only Topic 6: Business strategy The purpose of the business strategy topic is not to add extra content to the business and management course, but to collect together business ideas, concepts and techniques, which will develop the skills that allow an informed decision to be made about the future direction of an organization. Assessed by a “Pre- issued” case study.

Assessment Higher and Standard Level External assessment (75%) Two written papers: Paper 1: based on a case study issued in advance Paper 2: structured questions on stimulus materials & qualitative elements.

Internal assessment (25%) Higher Level: Research project. The report should address an issue facing an organization or analyze a decision to be made by an organization (maximum 2000 words) Standard Level: written commentary based on three to five supporting documents about a real issue or problem facing an organization (maximum 1500 words)
