One Community One Goal The purpose of One Community One Goal (OCOG) is to provide Miami-Dade County with a roadmap for its future economic development success. 1

Background – July 2011 Economic Conditions * Unemployment rate in July 2011 was 13.1% * Competition among cities and regions are at an all time high * Increased Workforce Skills Gaps * Need for Economic Diversity * Challenged with Talent Retention Housing Boom Financial Market Crash Recession Start of 2 nd OCOG July 2011 Miami-Dade County's Unemployment Rate (2002 – 2013) 2

Basis of the Study Evaluation of Miami-Dade County’s Strengths and Challenges Identification of Target Industries and Emerging Sectors Creation of Inventory of Education Assets Community Participation that included over 5000 participants, multiple focus groups and over 4100 survey responses. Conclusions Develop a strategic plan for industry diversification and job growth, including recommendations for business environment improvements and target industries. Establish a world-class educational ecosystem to retain talent, attract new companies and ensures worker availability. Establishing a diverse economy with a focus on Miami- Dade County’s industry strengths. Improving the Quality of Life for all communities across the entire County. 17
