Neuromyelitis optica was ultimately suspected and confirmed by detection of aquaporin-4 autoantibodies Even in the presence of MS-type lesions on MRI, NMO should be considered in patients with recurrent ON and TM MS-directed immunomodulatory medications are not effective and may be harmful when aimed at NMO Braksick et al.
