2. Albert the bull is in Audubon, Iowa and was made in 1963. He is located in Albert the bull park. He was made to celebrate the beef industry. He weighs 45 tons and is 30 feet tall. He is made of concrete and steel.

3. Black Hawk was a war chief who led his led Black Hawk was very young he became a brave. Black Hawk went to prison for fighting for his land. In Iowa he refused to give in without a fight.

4. Council Bluffs was found on January 19 th 1853. The real name was Kanesville, Iowa and then it was named Council Bluffs. It is decades older than Omaha, Ne. It is located on the east side of the Missouri River.

5. Donna Reed was born in Denison Iowa on January 27 th,1921. Donna Reed changed her name from Donna Belle Mullenger to Donna Reed. She won an award for being the best supporting actress. She died in 1986 from pancreatic cancer, thirteen days before her 65 th birthday.

6. Effigy mounds is a raised pile of earth built in the shape of an animal or a human figure. People believe they were made for religious reasons. At least 4,000 mounds remain today. They mainly got lost because of plowing or farming. Some items were found in some Effigy mounds such as pottery, weapons, and tools.

7. Fort Dodge was found in 1869. Fort Dodge’s industries are gypsum, limestone mining, drywall, trucking, vaccines, and retail. Fort Dodge is located in Webster county.

8. Glen Miller was on March 1, 1904. His name was Alton Glen Miller. He dropped out of college. When he was on a plane to entertain US troops in France when his plane disappeared and his body was never found. He died around December 15,1944.

9. Hebert Hoover born on August 10,1874 in West Branch, IA. He was the first president born in Iowa. He was the 31 st president and served in 1929to 1933. His nickname was Grand old man. He was the first engineer president. He dies October 20,1964 at the age of 90.

10. Iowa Hawkeyes are a team that represents Iowa. In 1889 Iowa Hawkeyes became a team. The Iowa Hawkeyes mascot is Herky.

11. John Wayne was born in Winterset, Iowa. His real name was Marion Robert Morrison. When he was bodysurfing a injury cut his college career. John Wayne played the hero in many war films but never served in the military himself. He was married and divorced three times.

12. Keokuk earned his honor through acts of bravery. When Keokuk was very young he killed a Sioux warrior. When some people were on a hunting trip, Keokuk ordered his warriors to form a circle with their horses.

14. The Mesqwueke tribe are also known as the fox tribe. They call themselves Meshkwahkihaki which means known as the red earths. They are closely to the Sauk people. There are about 10,000 mesqueke people left.

15. In 1869 a school was made by David Tostev. Miss M. Webster was the first teacher. In 1870 the first post office and Mr. Duncan was the first man. In 1870 Daniel Flynn opened a saloon. In 1882 Neola became a town.

16. Okoboji is the deepest natural lake in the state. The depth is 136. It is one out of three of the bluest lake in the world. It is in Dickinson county.

18. Quaker oats was found in 1901. There are about 11,860 employees. The company was made to make food. An example that they make would be oatmeal.

19. Robert Lucas was born on September 15th, 1937 in Yakima,Washington. He won award for Economics in 1995. He was 73.

21. Tri Center has over 100 employees. There are 800 students from preschool to 12 th grade. Tri Center is located between a corn field and a bean field. Tri Center is home of the Trojans and the lady Trojans. There were 3 people that did wrestling and did a good job. Loren Williams, Caleb White,and Trevor Paulson. Trevor Paulson got 4 th place. They finished in class 1A out of 87 other teams.

22. Union Pacific was found on July 1 st,1862. It is the largest railroad in the United States. The railroad was approved by president Abraham Lincoln. It is still now running. It goes to United states to Chicago,Illinois along the Mississippi River to the Pacific coast.

23. Allen James Van was born in 1914 in Mount Peasant, Iowa on September 7. He was 91 years old when he died. He died in 2006.

24. Wheat is a good source of a vegetable protein in most human food. In 2007, 607 million tons of wheat were grown. The straw can be used as construction. Wheat is one of the most important crop in the world. It is part of the grass family. About 20 billion bushels are grown during the year. Canada, China, France, India, Russia, and the United States grow the most wheat each year.

25. Xerox Company was found in 1906. There are about 136,500 employees. It is made for paper and equipment and then it was changed to digital images and computer stuff. It is still running.

27. Blank Park Zoo was opened May 8,1966. There are about 104 different kinds of species. There are gardens and winded paths. They can have weddings, meetings, company picnics, and group outings.
