1 Welcome to College and Career Readiness Night! Please enjoy the first 15 minutes of our time together catching up with community members while enjoying coffee and dessert. We will begin the presentation promptly at 7:15.

2 What is an Academic Advisor? Legacy Community Academy has grown and filled a position that will: O Walk with parents and students along the college admissions path O Assist students in researching colleges and careers O Assist with partnering with internships O Walking with students along the path of developing their GPA O Answering questions about work permits, transcripts, DMV documents, etc.

3 What is College & Career Readiness? O Less than 32% of Americans age 25 years or older hold a bachelor’s degree or higher US Census 2013 O About 40 years ago, 72% of U.S. jobs were held by individuals with a high school degree or less. By 2018, only 38% of jobs will be available to individuals without some education and training after high school. Carnevale, Anthony P. et al. (June 2010). 6 Online Resources O GACollege411 – An online platform developed by Georgia Student Finance Commission to provide students with information to assist in college preparation, career planning, interest surveys, test prep, financial aid (including the FAFSA and HOPE), etc. GACollege411 O CAA LaunchPad – College Admissions Assistance is an online based program to assist in the college admissions process. We are proud to be a pilot school using the program as an entire community. CAA LaunchPad

19 Testing Information O PSAT – October 15 at LCA O 8:30 – 12:00 – Testing (all 9 – 11 grade students should report directly to the Coffee Shop) O Please bring several #2 pencils, a sweater in case you get cold, a non-content book to read and a smile O Lunch O 12:30 – 1:30 CAA Account Training O 1:30 – 2:00 Study Hall *All Seniors will attend classes in the morning and then serve our 9 – 11 grade students in lunch and fun. Seniors will then be dismissed for the day.
