2 KEEP IN MIND…..  Colleges are more concerned with GPA than curriculum (although they care about both).  Colleges DO NOT know what diploma type you receive (beginning with the Class of 2017 there will only be one diploma type)  Only take honors or AP classes if you have had the previous honors course OR a high “A” in the previous course.  Follow your teachers’ recommendations concerning your course selection.

3 Advanced Diploma Requirements (Minimum 24 Credits) 4 English 4 Math (min. req. Alg. II w/ Trig) 4 Science (2 – Adv. Level- Chem, Physics, Anatomy, or AP) 4 Social Studies 1 P.E. Life ½ Health 1 Career Preparedness ½ Fine Art 2 Consecutive Foreign Language (i.e. Spanish I & II) MUST TAKE END OF COURSE TESTS

5 New Alabama Diploma Requirements (Beginning With Cohort Class of 2017) 4 English 4 Math 4 Science 4 Social Studies MUST TAKE END OF COURSE TESTS 3 Credit Combination of Arts Education, Foreign Language, or Career Technology (Students are encouraged to take two consecutive courses) 1 P.E. Life ½ Health 1 Computer/Career Literacy

6 Advanced Academic Endorsement for the New Alabama Diploma (Beginning With Cohort Class of 2017) Advanced Math and Science must include Algebra II With Trig and Chemistry Two consecutive years of the same foreign language Minimum.5 credit of a fine art course Minimum 2 AP or DE/DC including one in a core academic area

7 US Government and Economics Summer Credit Program JSCC Math and English DE/DC for Senior Level Math and English Early Dismissal Program for employment, college, or internship opportunities

8 Seniors Only Dismiss for 7 th period or 7 th /8 th Must have a 2.0 and be “on-track” to graduate in May Parent Permission Form Required Student should be employed, taking a college course, or participating in an internship program If behavior, academic performance, or attendance become problematic, Early Dismissal Students will be required to stay at school for all 8 periods.
