Malnutrition is common in 3 rd world countries; impoverished peoples rely on rice for the main staple of their diet.

However, rice does not contain adequate amounts of all necessary nutrients to prevent malnutrition More than 10 million children die of malnutrition every year. A vast majority of these deaths is linked to micronutrient deficiencies.

When complete with notes, pick up the Paper Plasmid activity from the substitute. Also grab scissors and a few pieces of tape. (Leave tape dispensers where they are, just take tape) Work through the activity. Make sure to read the directions carefully. When complete, answer the questions on the lab. Before you turn it in, staple the Recombinant DNA with the insulin gene to your lab sheet. Pick up your homework and work on it.
