“Marriage Is Honorable” (Hebrews 13:4) Part 1 All verses are from the New King James Version unless noted.

“Even those who look no further than the temporal happiness of individuals and the welfare of existing society, are not insensible to the great importance of our domestic relations, which the strongest affections of nature secure, and which even our wants and weaknesses cement. We can form no conception of social virtue or felicity, yea, no conception of human society itself, which has not its foundation in the family. …” (Arthur W. Pink, An Exposition of Hebrews)

“…No matter how excellent the constitution and laws of a country may be, or how vast its resources and prosperity, there is no sure basis for social order, or public as well as private virtue, until it be laid in the wise regulation of its families. After all, a nation is but the aggregate of its families, and unless there be good husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, there cannot possibly be good citizens. Therefore the present decay of home life and family discipline threaten the stability of our nation today far more severely than does any foreign hostility” (Arthur W. Pink, An Exposition of Hebrews)

“Marriage Is Honorable” (Hebrews 13:4) one son of Adam joined to one daughter of Eve =MARRIAGE Genesis 2:21-24 Ephesians 5:31 commitment & covenant Malachi 2:14, 15 Romans 7:2, 3 1) as of great price, precious 2) held in honour, esteemed, especially dear (5093, Online Bible Greek Lexicon)

That Which is Honorable in Scripture: the work of God (Ps. 111:3) for a man to stop quarreling (Prov. 20:3) should show that quarreling is dishonorable in marriage also! the law (Is. 42:21) the Christian’s conduct (1 Pet. 2:12) marriage (Heb. 13:4) Greek word translated “precious” (1 Cor. 3:12; Jas. 5:7; 1 Pet. 1:7, 19; 2 Pet. 1:4; Rev. 17:4; 18:12; etc.)

Marriage Honored by Christ by miracle the first sign was at the wedding in Cana (Jn. 2:1-11) by parable kingdom of heaven is likened to (Matt. 22:2ff) in selecting the church to be His wife Ephesians 5:31, 32

“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Heb. 13:4, NKJV) marriage is honorable among all this doesn’t grant people to marry, divorce, remarry, divorce, remarry, divorce, etc. (Matt. 19:9) God gave marriage to man for his benefit “It is not good that man should be alone” (Gen. 2:18) “Two are better than one” (Eccl. 4:9) “Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband” (1 Cor. 7:2)

1 Timothy 2:15 “Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self–control” God assigned the woman the place of child- bearing and home duties (cf. 1 Tim. 2:11-14) womankind shall be saved in bearing her part of the primeval curse “... In pain you shall bring forth children...” (Gen. 3:16) as man “In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread...” (Gen. 3:19; 1 Tim. 5:8; 2 Thess. 3:10) if continue in faith, love, holiness and self-control

“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Heb. 13:4, NKJV) the marriage bed is not defiled Where marriage is honorable (precious); the mind of Jehovah views fornication and adultery as evil the fornicator’s bed is defiled and will be judged the adulterer’s bed is defiled and will be judged It does matter whether you are scripturally married or not!

3 GENERAL PURPOSES FOR MARRIAGE 1. propagation of GODLY children thus God created male and female (Gen. 1:27) “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply...’” (Gen. 1:28) “But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth” (Mal. 2:15) Proverbs 22:6

3 GENERAL PURPOSES FOR MARRIAGE 2. remedy against fornication “But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband” (1 Cor. 7:2, ESV) fornicators and adulterers can bear children, BUT, it violates God’s moral code! IT DOES MATTER WHETHER YOU ARE MARRIED OR NOT (Rev. 21:8)! 3. remedy against the challenges of loneliness Genesis 2:18

Marry Who? Not a close relative “None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to him, to uncover his nakedness: I am the LORD” (Lev. 18:6) Why marry a non-Christian? Can you give me reasons why you should marry a non-Christian?
