The activities and projects of STLP allow students to expand their academic skills used in the classroom. Students who do not have direct access to technology are given the opportunity to explore and create through the use of the STLP classes and projects. Because of this program, all students are made more socially aware of technology uses in a real world environment. Goal 1 The STLP will develop activities which enhance the academic, social, and emotional growth of the student.
5
Our STLP group consists of male and female students from different grades, races, and academic abilities. This allows for a variety of students to become more educated in technology use and, therefore, can share information with their peers. Goal 2 The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students.
6
STLs showcased their work in the school, showing the tools they used to develop their projects. STLs viewed middle school and upper elementary projects to see what projects are available to them in the future. ????? Goal 3 The STLP will participate in multi-age collaboration by forming innovative learning partnerships.
7
STLP students were exposed to different programs that would be useful in current and future classroom activities. Students independently used digital cameras, Picasa for photo editing, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Publisher. Those students took those skills back to their classrooms to create portfolio pieces in their classroom. They were able to teach other students in their classroom and in other classes. Goal 4 The STLP will form learning partnerships among students with different technology skills.
8
STLs organized “Reading Reindeer” in our school. This is a program that collected new books to be given out at Christmas in partnership with Family Resource and Community Action. STLs are participating in “I Love to Read” week and “Teacher Spotlight”. These programs are to promote reading awareness and bring the community closer to the faculty. Goal 5 The STLP will develop activities which benefit communities.
