Linear Assessment = Linear Skills Teaching All departments will need to produce a summary of learning for each module taught in EVERY SUBJECT FOR EVERY YEAR GROUP - Why? For most subjects your SOW needs to change Does how you teach need to change? Does how you assess need to change? What’s new, stayed the same, what’s different with the new specifications for your subject – are you clear about the difference? Are students clear about the success criteria for your subject. How will you revisit things that have been taught during two years of study so that students can recall and apply in an exam setting?

1.Teacher marks the work/ task 2.Teacher provides a formative comment for improvement and instruction. A summative comment may be appropriate also (e.g. exam question). 3.The student does the work again addressing the points for action made by the member of staff. The student is required to positively respond to the written feedback from their teacher. *Student response to marking will be in purple pen – the Academy will provide 1 box per teacher for the next academic year, after that departments need to top up with their own money Student response to marking 3-step process
12
Students should reattempt a piece of work that they need to improve to get to the next level/grade or the teacher builds in additional challenge Schemes of work adjusted to allow time for this to become a routine part of the year ahead You need to be planning to use this once per half-term – as a minimum Review and Improve time can be linked to student response to marking, and use of PLCs and individual RAPs. Review and Improve time Purple Pen
13
Expectations in books Write the date, title & objectives every lesson Underline the date & title every lesson Write in Blue / Black ink only Diagrams are done in pencil If you make a mistake you cross through in pencil, once Complete lesson evaluations in full sentences Response to marking and review and improve in purple pen Don’t waste space in the book No silly drawings or comments Write neatly at all times Level & correct work in class No highlighter/felt-tip pens unless instructed by teacher
14
