Updates on Research Administration System Discuss Research Administration System (RAS) Provide update on current phase Data Collection – Discuss internal Sponsored Coordination Form Provide a demo of proposal and award data entry into RAS

Research Administration System (RAS) Central Repository for Data: From development to submission Enables Researchers and Staff to access past and current proposals and awards to use when creating new proposals and to generate reports on pre/post award research activities Proposals will be electronically routed for internal Tufts approvals Federal applications will be submitted directly to the funding agency Has ability to connect to other systems of records (Finance and Data Warehouse)

What’s Happening Now November 2013: Institutional Proposals and Award Modules were fully implemented April 2014: Reporting Capability was developed for summary and detailed reports on pre-award and award data in Data Warehouse June 2014: Initiation of Phase 2 Proposal Development

Data Collection: Internal Sponsored Coordination Form (ISCF) Must accompany all applications for sponsored research funding Competing renewals, resubmissions, supplements, transfer-ins Purposes: Documents the approval of proposed cost sharing Informs the University of any special conditions PI and investigators certify that they are in compliance with federal and state regulations Attests to collaborative project planning Serves as an agreement between PI and Co-I’s concerning distribution of funds Ensures that Tufts does not exceed allowable number of applications

Why is the Internal Sponsored Coordination Form Important? Some data entered into the ISCF is required to be tracked by the Federal government Errors in the ISCF can cause delays in creation of accounts Data entered into ISCF populates new RAS system This means that missing or incorrect data on the ISCF causes missing or incorrect data in RAS-created reports
