1. Senior Design Project Overview

2.  Definition: ◦ Is the capstone project for the Engineering strand of the Academy, ◦ Must be a meaningful project and provides a deliverable product upon completion, ◦ Cannot be a project previously started or completed, ◦ Must include a “community service” component,  Minimum of 10 hours, ◦ Must be pre-approved by the instructor and the Academy Coordinator,

3.  The Senior Design Project Proposal must include the following items: ◦ Title Page ◦ Problem Statement ◦ Engineering Academy pathway targeted ◦ Project Objectives  How does this project benefit the community? ◦ Proposed Plan of Action ◦ Project Deliverables ◦ Project Budget ◦ Time Table ◦ Signature area for advisor and team members

4.  Maximum length- ◦ Must cover all the topics required within the proposal,  Due Date ◦ Declaration of Project by September 12, 2014, ◦ All Project Proposals are due:  First Draft on before October 10, 2014,  Final Draft on October 27, 2014 ◦ Interview and approval process October 13- 24, 2014,  Project cannot be started until proposal is reviewed and approved.

5.  Must be developed based on a specific Academy Engineering pathway that the student has completed,

6.  Examples  Design and construct a propeller driven wind generator,  Design and build a 3d prototype based on an animal or insect,  Re-engineer and build an adult Big Wheel,  Design and build a robot that incorporates, Arduino, Lego Tetrix, Microsoft Kinect, and RobotC,  Design and build an interactive 3d model of a cumulus cloud.
