UC PERSONAL STATEMENT ESSAY Applicants are asked to respond to two prompts: Describe the world you come from—for example, your family, community or school—and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations. Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are? Word Count: 1,000 words total 12

COMMON APPLICATION Currently accepted at 400 schools Check your colleges for any required supplemental forms at the Common Application website Application for Undergraduate Admission Secondary School Report (filled out by school counselors) Mid-Year Report (same as above) Two Teacher Evaluations (to be filled out by teachers in academic subjects) Essay 500 words Short Answers 150 words Students should check their application status regularly and gently remind teachers and counselors when deadlines are approaching.

DEADLINE OPTIONS FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS Regular Decision- “I am interested, and if accepted, I might want to attend.” Early Action- “ I am very interested, and if accepted, I will mostly attend.” Early Decision- “ It’s true love, and if accepted, I must attend because it is contractually binding.” Early Action/Single Choice- “I’m very interested, and you’re the one and only school I may apply to early.” (non-binding)

PAYING FOR COLLEGE Financial Aid Night – December 10 @ 6:30pm Do the FAFSA after January 1 st – Attend FAFSA workshops for help Apply for scholarships – Refer to the Husky Pays Scholarship Booklet and newsletters where you will find a list of available scholarships
