Opportunities to Make for an Easier Transition…
6th Grade Visitations to the Middle School 6th graders visit the Middle School on June 17 Students will learn about courses and activities offered Follow up visit to the elementary schools Open House – Tentatively scheduled for August 26th from 4:30-6:30 Students bring their schedules and explore the school Tours will be given by current students Many staff members available to answer any questions

What Classes Will Your Student Have as a 7th Grader?
English Social Studies Science Math Home & Careers Physical Education (Every Other Day) Art (Every Other Day) Intro to Spanish or French (may be exempt through CSE) Music: Band/Chorus/Orchestra or General Music

So What Will Your Student’s Day Look Like?
7:40am-2:35pm 9 periods each day 8 periods of classes 1 period for lunch A/B days Each class is 42 minutes No homeroom, 1st period has an extra 5 minutes for announcements

What is Available After Regular School Hours?
Late busses are available to transport those students home who stay after school Late bus passes are required, which are obtained from the teacher of the program Homework Help A teacher is available from 2:30 - 4:10 on certain days to assist students with homework and organization

Activities Include: Various Clubs Including Yearbook, Theater Club, Science Olympiad, Art Club Sports Fall, Winter, and Spring sports are available at the modified level Athletic Director: Michael Carney ext. 2101

Ways to Get and Be in Touch
Parent Portal Receive access to your student’s grades, assignments, and attendance to know what is going on. This is a great way to stay informed before progress reports and report cards are sent home. Call You can always call the Middle School office at ext and leave a message for a teacher. Because classes are in session, sometimes this is a difficult way to get in touch. All addresses follow the same format. First initial of the first name and last Ex: Sarah Turck –

More Ways to Be in Touch Websites
Teachers websites includes class work and homework Go to the Middle School website, click on “Staff”, and click on your student’s teachers Teachers can answer question about grades, assignments, and classroom routines Your Student’s School Guidance Counselor. Counselors can answer questions about schedules, academic planning, possible tutoring, etc.

Rules of the School Electronic devices must be turned off during normal school hours No backpacks during normal school hours No hats or hoods should be worn

Tips to Help Your Middle Schooler be Successful from Day 1
Attend the Open House in August Insist on daily attendance Establish a routine study/homework plan Stay for Homework Help at school Monitor your student’s planner Use the Parent Portal Review progress reports and report cards Be in touch if there are any concerns
