3  Who is likely to study human catastrophes ?Why?  What kinds of questions would people studying human Catastrophes want to answer?  How would the questions be different from questions that might be asked about natural catastrophes?

4  This includes killing members of a group.  Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group.  Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.  Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.  Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group

5  The word Genocide didn’t exist before the Holocaust. It was invented as away of explaining what happened.  The Genocide that occurred during the Holocaust is one of the reasons for the formation of the United Nations.

6  The Holocaust resulted in the deaths of approximately 11 million people.  Approximately 6 million of those deaths were Jews.  The Holocaust is largely studied as a Jewish struggle because although Jews weren’t the only targets, every Jew was a potential target.  2/3rds of European Jews were killed.
