11 Moving Forward – Looking Back Fall Semester prepared the way for this leadership course by examining the changes and challenges facing healthcare today. Winter semester examined the theories and styles of leadership that are available for use as we step into the role of leader within our health care communities. Preparation of the gap analysis, leadership development plan and skills expansion studies helped focus my attention to the areas which require strengthening during the upcoming transition within my program. Next semester will hopefully contain more information on the continuing project of skill building and leadership development. One of my areas of interest is Emotional Intelligence and how it can be taught within competency based medical education.
