INTERNATIONAL OFFICE Who we are: part of VŠE‘s central administration, i.e. we provide services to students and teachers of the whole university Where we are: Rajská budova, 5th floor, just next to Ms. Krejčí‘s office On internet: http://ozs.vse.czhttp://ozs.vse.cz Our mission: –contribute to VŠE‘s internationalization especially by organizing student exchange with partner universities (Exchange Programme – Outgoing and Incoming) also by providing information and service concerning other study and teaching abroad opportunities

VŠE‘S INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS (INTERNATIONALIZATION) What is it? In general: developing relations with international institutions, teachers and students Indispensable in the field of education in the same way as in other sectors of inter/national economy What does it mean for VŠE‘s students? –courses and study programmes in foreign languages with international classmates = you and your programme are definitely a part of it! –visiting professors –possibility of a study abroad period –ECTS and Diploma Supplement: easier comparability with previous and accessibility of future studies at other institutions and in other countries

STUDY ABROAD OPPORTUNITIES FOR IB STUDENTS Exclusively for IB students: –Double degree (16 students/year) Open to all VŠE students including IB students (alternatives to double degree opportunity): –Exchange Programme for master students (2013/2014: ca 480 students) –Individual freemover mobility with VŠE scholarship (60 students/year) Go on ERASMUS? Erasmus = EU‘s programme: support mobility around Europe for studies/teaching; financial source: grants/scholarships; at VŠE applies to eligible double degree and exchange programme participants

Exchange Programme (master) BASIC PRINCIPLES High interest of VŠE students in studying abroad –1 semester ONLY – not possible to prolong –ONLY 1x during your studies at VŠE ACADEMIC ISSUES: –Integral part of studies = studies at VŠE NOT interrupted –Recognition of courses studied abroad (credit transfer) FINANCIAL ISSUES: –NO tuition fees at partner university (status of exchange student) & regular IB tuition fee has to be paid to VŠE –Scholarship = financial contribution to cover the higher cost of living abroad

Exchange Programme (master) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS APPLYING TO IB STUDENTS eligible to apply for exchange only when finishing the 1st term/semester at VŠE eligible to study abroad only in Fall/Winter term/semester (=3rd IB term; must be indicated in application for exchange) eligible to study abroad only in English (applying for exchange studies in other languages not permitted) necessary to gain 30 ECTS – recognised as minor specialization Business Practices

Exchange Programme (master) SELECTION PROCEDURE: APPLICATION On-line application (ISIS): –only IB students at the end of their 1 st term at VŠE can apply –term preference: IB students must choose Fall/Winter –help with application: Jitka Pudilova, IB assistent Printed application: –hand in at International Business Office (RB547) –Enclosures: CVs Copy of foreign language certificate Copy of the bachelor´s transcript if bachelor studies NOT done at VŠE

Exchange Programme (master) SELECTION PROCEDURE: ROUND 1 APPLICATION EVALUATION –Study results: Bachelor studies: weighted average based on Diploma Supplement or Transcript of Records from Bachelor studies 1 st term at VŠE – Winter Term 2012 –Language skills Language certificate (English): the one you have used for applying for IB program unless you are native speaker –Courses in foreign language: At least 3 courses passed in Winter Term 2012 –Buddy program at VSE (organized by Buddy System) http://buddy.vse.cz / BS Infosessions: 27+28 November 2012http://buddy.vse.cz Only students fluent in Czech or Slovak language are eligible

Exchange Programme (master) SELECTION PROCEDURE: ROUND 1 TEST ON GENERAL KNOWLEDGE –50 multiple choice questions –2 parts Common Part: current issues in economic, cultural or political field in the Czech Republic, in the European Union and in the world Language Area Specific Part: in case of all IB applicants - English speaking countries issues (history, geography, politics, economy, current affairs)

Exchange Programme (master) SELECTION PROCEDURE: ROUND 2 MOTIVATION INTERVIEW –Number of students invited for the motivation interview based on the number of places available: ca 2/3 of applicants –ONLY within certain period –Motivation for studying abroad –In the tuition language of your preference

Exchange Programme (master) SCHOLARSHIP / FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION Financial source: –LLP/Erasmus According to the destination country – amount per month set in EUR Paid out in CZK in one amount 2012/2013: UK: 583 EUR, FR: 473 EUR, DE: 405 EUR, AT: 430 EUR –Other sources/VŠE Scholarship fund 10.000 CZK/month + 15.000 CZK for special costs (e.g. plane ticket,visa)

BASIC CONDITIONS Individual arrangement of study abroad stay NON-partner university of VSE only NOT in the country of origin ONE term only (for IB student: only in 3 rd term of their studies at VSE) Tuition fee at host university can be applicable (NO exchange or university agreement) Integral Part of Studies at VSE – regular tuition fee + recognition of courses studied abroad Study Abroad Course Plan (Academic Director Recommendation)
