MOTOR TRADE ASSOCIATION MEMBER UPDATE APRIL 2015 How we’ve got to this point 2011 – Initial thinking on branch structure started July 2014: MTA Council agreed to review branch structure: – Needs to: ~Be modernised ~Reflect current operating environment ~Deliver to all member groups

Jul 2014 – Go ahead from MTA Council – working group setup – 4 working group meetings & teleconferences Oct 2014 – Update by working group to MTA AGM 20 Feb 2015 – Update to MTA Council 23-27 Feb 2015 – National member roadshow & update

MOTOR TRADE ASSOCIATION MEMBER UPDATE APRIL 2015 Objective of Working Group Not about saving money! Develop a governance structure that: Greenfields i.e. start with a blank slate Meets members’ needs Increases membership engagement Has an efficient and effective administrative framework

BRANCH: how it will all work Branch Minimum formality Grandfather in all current branches Branch Manager: Voted by local branch members; Appoints own exec; Sits on Region Executive (or a nominee) Provides feedback to the region Sets own rules

Branch keeps existing funds & assets Branch decides how it’s spent Reality check – cost & efficiency: – 56 bank accounts – 5 banks – 29 branches = 29 audits = 29 audit fees – Audit fee $1,500 – will triple – $1.6m total funds from all branches
