3 Students have created a slide presentation to share their career ideas. Each student was asked to choose an occupation and provide information about this career as if he or she were already working. Students used http://www.bls.gov/k12/html/edu_over.htm as their resource. http://www.bls.gov/k12/html/edu_over.htm

4 Scanned Image On this side My Future Looks Bright as a Curator My name is Jane Wilson and I work for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Most people think I must work with dinosaur bones, but actually my job is to collect and fix items for the museum’s gem collection. We have a huge collection of gems, rocks, and minerals. Mostly you will find me in the basement of the museum working at my computer. My job is to organize the gems and precious stones we collect. Sometimes I get to travel to check out an interesting stone. Helping with setting up an exhibit and keeping it together is my job too. Curators need to have a graduate degree and have field experience. That means I spent a lot time in the dirt learning about rocks, minerals, and gem stones before I could work inside the museum. Of course my love of reading and computers doesn’t hurt me either. Right now I make $45,000 a year, but I started at $25,000.
