7 They are... things known or assumed as facts, making the basis of reasoning or calculation. In its raw form, data means very little until it is analysed Data facts provided or learned about something or someone. What information you have gained from the data Information facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. What you understand from the information Knowledge the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise. Using the information and knowledge effectively. 14 Organisational knowledge But... Can an organisation, which isn’t living, have knowledge? “Individuals come and go but organizations preserve knowledge, behaviors, mental maps norms, and values over time”(Hedberg, 1981: p6). The dominant view of organizational knowledge is that it exists in the form of routines resulting from an accumulation of past experience that guide future behavior. Routines include the rules, operating procedures, values, beliefs and frameworks that determine how the organization is designed and operated.
