Area: 91,725 sq. miles (237,502 sq. km) - Roughly the size of Oregon, Romania is the second largest country in the area, after Poland. Romanians speak foreign languages: one to four Romanians can speak either English or French or German or Spanish Ferdinand I who became the King of Romania in 1914 was married to Queen Marie. She was a granddaughter of the United Kingdom's Queen Victoria Romania was under communist rule between 1947-1989. The revolution in 1989 put an end to it. Though there are many Roma in Romania, which makes sense because it is the route of crossing into Europe for the Roma, the name Roma and Romania are not related.
