Tryouts for Varsity & JV Baseball January 28-30 7 th & 8 th graders – 5:30-7:00 pm 9 th – 12 th graders – 7:00-8:30 pm Very important meeting on January 15 @ 6:00 pm in the old gym. Attendance at this meeting will be required to try out for baseball. You must have a completed physical form to try out

Fazoli’s and Basketball Fazoli’s will give a 10% discount to all LMS students and staff on basketball game days when you show your school ID Thanks to Fazoli’s for partnering with our girls basketball team

Go To Work with a Relative Day “Go To Work with a Relative Day” is scheduled for Friday, February 1, 2013 For 7th and 8th grade students O Forms should be returned to your child’s social studies teacher by Friday, January 11 O Only relatives will be approved to be shadowed O All 3 signatures must be on the permission form. Even if you, the parent, is the one being shadowed and also happens to be the supervisor, the 3 signatures are still needed. No blank signature lines please. O This day is designed for students to get a feel of what the work environment is like for a parent, grandparent or other relative. The experience could even foster new ideas about that job or career field.

Bring Your Parent to Lunch Day “Bring Your Parents to Lunch Day” is scheduled for Friday, February 1, 2013 For 6th Grade Students O Forms should be returned to your child’s teacher by Monday, January 28 O This year our 6 th grade students will have the opportunity to invite a parent or relative to eat lunch with them. After lunch the student and parent or relative will have a time to sit down and talk about the adult’s career. O Parents/relatives who are interested in participating in this activity need to come to the Lexington Middle School Gym by 11:00 am on Friday, February 1, to meet their child for lunch. Leo Club “Pasta for Pennies” Fundraiser O Pasta for Pennies Drive will be Monday, January 28 through Friday, March 15 O Last year LMS raised $4,939.91 to help find a cure for Leukemia O Our goal this year is to raise at least that much again O The homeroom that raises the most money will receive lunch catered by the Olive Garden

oLo Character Contest IT-oLogy is sponsoring a contest open to all middle and high school students to redesign the oLo character logo Deadline for all entries is February 7, 2013 See the LMS website under the section for Parents and Students for forms and information

Rising 9 th Graders During January and February, the school counselors will be having 8 th grade Individual Graduation Conferences (IGP’s) in which the parents are invited to attend. We will be discussing current and past academic progress, high school goals, Explore scores, career information, plans for the future, and reviewing 9 th grade class selections. Parents will receive a letter in the mail about two weeks before their child’s scheduled conference. If you have any questions, please call the school counseling office @ 821-3734.

BoxTops for Education Thanks to everyone for the amazing success of our recent Box Tops for Education drive! We collected over 5,500 box tops, which nets LMS $588! It’s quick and easy to do, so remember to clip and save those Box Tops and Campbell’s labels over the holidays.

Notes from the School Nurse Parents, When your child receives their middle school immunizations, please provide an updated immunization record to the school nurse. This is especially necessary due to the requirement that all upcoming 7 th graders will be required to have a Tdap immunization before entering school. Thank you!
