13
The University of Iowa Foundation Faculty and staff investment in the UI sends a powerful message to those outside the university: We are fully invested in the work we do. By supporting the UI ourselves, we tell others that it is worthy of their support.
14
The University of Iowa Foundation You: Help articulate the UI’s need for philanthropic support – as well as its positive impact. Lend credibility, showing that We Are Phil is endorsed by faculty/staff. Inject energy, creativity, and enthusiasm into the program and customize it for your area. Set an example through your own philanthropy. Build meaningful relationships between the UI Foundation and the university.
15
The University of Iowa Foundation Of all the We Are Phil things we do, YOUR events, emails, and other peer-to- peer encouragement is what’s really meaningful and effective. THANK YOU!
16
The University of Iowa Foundation Assemble your own We Are Phil committee to help brainstorm and plan. Set a participation goal for your work unit. (Foundation staff will assist with a baseline.) Communicate often with co-workers: inform them of goals, progress, where to find forms, events you’ve planned, ways co-workers can help, giving or impact stories from within your area.
17
The University of Iowa Foundation Plan events, activities, and/or communications to increase awareness and participation among your coworkers. Confirm that your colleagues received their We Are Phil materials (via Campus Mail). Provide feedback to the UI Foundation (your development staff or Jen) from campus, and distribute information to your unit from the foundation. Make a gift.
