The Dwarf Planet Pluto held it’s position as the outermost planet in the Solar System for 76 years until it was reclassified as a mere ‘dwarf planet’ in August 24 th 2006. Pluto is the smallest of the other planets at only 2.390km, a mass of.02% of Earth and a volume of 1% of Earth. Facts about Pluto: I rotation= 6 Earth days and 9 hours Average temperature= -234˚ C

What is Pluto like? Pluto is mostly brown. It’s atmosphere is thin and mainly composed of methane gas. Scientists doubt that Pluto has any form of life.
5
Where is Pluto in the Solar System? Most of the time, Pluto is the distant planet from the Sun, with a distance of 5.869 million kilometres. It has an oval shaped orbit. It’s orbit takes it closer to the Sun than Neptune for 20 years of it’s 248 year orbit.
6
Pluto’s moon Pluto has one moon called Charon. Charon is only slightly smaller than it’s parent, Pluto. Some astronomers examining a photo of Pluto noticed that it had stretched out, but it was only it’s moon Charon. Charon was discovered in 1978.
7
What is Planet X? Scientists have considered the fact that there is a tenth planet in our Solar System nicknamed ‘Planet X’. Planet X must be larger than Pluto, however it has never been found. It may be too far away to find, perhaps twice as far away from the Sun as Pluto. Who thinks it exists

Random Facts Pluto has never been visited by spacecraft. Some small objects have been found beyond Pluto. The objects may form part of a ring of ice bodies called the Kuiper Belt by astronomers. The Kuiper Belt theory makes the existence of Planet X less likely. These small objects may account for the gravitational pulls on Uranus and Neptune. Because Pluto is so small you would be very light. If you weigh 70 pounds on Earth, for example, you would weigh 4 pounds on Pluto.
