The first facts giving rise to the possibility of Neptune’s existence, were gravitational imbalances in the orbit of Uranus.

12. In 1843, John Couch Adams theorized the cause could be an eighth planet. Independently, Urbain Le Verrier reached the same conclusion in 1846. It wasn’t until Johann Galle read Verrier’s prediction that Neptune was found.
