2. The Problem Over 20.9 million people are being bought and sold around the world in a human rights nightmare known as human trafficking.

3. The Solution The United States should send national and international aid to educate the public on recognizing and reporting human trafficking, as well as build communal safe houses where victims can seek help and stability.

4. Supporting Argument 1 Humanitarian values are upheld through communal safe houses, which will save innocent people from living a life of servitude and poverty in horrible, inhumane conditions. The average lifespan of a woman in slavery is seven years. The top killers contributing to the premature life expectancy are homicide and AIDS. Taking victims off the streets and putting them into safe environments gives them the opportunity to seek help and potentially put their lives back together.

5. Supporting Argument 2 This policy national security because if the public is educated in human trafficking, more illegal immigrants can be stopped before they are trafficked into the U.S. unaccounted for. It is estimated that about 17,500 people are brought into the U.S. alone each year by the traffickers, and the victims are mostly women and kids (“The Number”, CNN).

6. Supporting Argument 3 Ending human trafficking will put billions of dollars back into the economy of the U.S. and the rest of the world. The human trafficking industry is valued at $31.6 billion dollars, and can circulate $21 billion dollars back into the international job market once victims find jobs with a regular salary(Polaris).
