The school’s Title 1 funds are additional federal funds which coordinated with other funds to provide support to the entire educational program of the school in order to improve the overall academic achievement of ALL children in the school. All students are Title 1 participants and all parents are considered Title 1 Parents. Schoolwide programs must make provisions to meet the needs of students who are at-risk of failing to achieve state standards. 11

The Title I parent involvement program should be designed to meet the needs of Title I parents and linked to the school’s student achievement goals and the activities articulated in the school’s parent involvement policy and school-parent compact. Title I funds may be used to provide workshops and other activities for parents that promote literacy, the use of technology and provide access to other resources that parents can use to actively support their child’s education. Title I parents must be consulted regarding the use of these funds and must be engaged in the discussion regarding how the Title I program will benefit all parents. 14
