A good rule is to not friend learners while they are still at school Check your account’s privacy settings Facebook groups and pages can be useful Invite parents to join groups for transparency Set clear boundaries regarding social media interaction with learners

Teach learners about netiquette Help learners to understand that private data is never really private Personal information given when signing up for a quiz or game online, is used and sold by companies Privacy settings can be unreliable

Social media is the way forward and must be embraced Educate yourself on the various forms available and use them as teaching tools Be aware of the pitfalls of social media use and safeguard yourself
