4
What tools should I use? It depends…
5
Ask yourself What is the purpose of my video? What tools and resources do I have at my disposal? Can I do it myself?
6
1. Audio Eliminate background noise as much as possible Remove anything that might interfere with the mic pickup Get as close to the mic as possible Add pillows or cushions behind the mic Test your audio Use an external mic if possible
7
2. Lighting Experiment with available light sources Add portable lights to balance existing lights Diffuse overly harsh or direct light Avoid shooting against a window or bright light Provide space between the subject and the background
8
3. Composition Use the “display grid” option on your device Adjust angle and elevation Adjust zoom Choose an appropriate background Check the foreground
9
4. Being On Camera Students want to see their instructor Students are forgiving of imperfections (audio is more important than video) Speak at a reasonable pace Use notes instead of scripts Strive for a conversational tone rather than perfection Keep recording, even if you make a mistake
10
5. Review Watch your video and (if possible) edit out unnecessary material Use headphones Rewatch it after uploading to ensure that it plays properly
