3. Fire Danger Index Catastrophic - 100+ Fire control difficult and often fails. People in the path of a fire are unlikely to be killed or seriously injured if they take shelter. Well-prepared and actively defended homes can offer safety during a fire. Catastrophic - 100+ Low to moderate - 0 to 11 High – 12- 24 Very high - 25 to 49 Catastrophic - 100+ Severe - 50 to 74 Extreme – 75 - 99

Very high level threats to life and property on a large scale. There is a high likelihood that people in the path of a fire will be killed or seriously injured. Many homes are very likely to be destroyed. Even the best prepared homes will not be safe. Severe - 50 to 74 Extreme – 75 - 99
