Personnel Safety in General (1)
4
No contact lenses
5
Personnel Safety (Cloths 1) Working outside of danger area –No special requirements, but…. –Long pants –Closed shoes
6
Personnel Safety (Cloths 2) Working inside of danger area (protection through cover) –Working cloths Safety class EN 61482- 1-2 (ENV 50354) class 1 –Closed shoes –Leather Gloves (recommended) –Never work alone!
7
Personnel Safety (Cloths 3) Working inside of danger area (protection through distance, LV Fuse ≤ 200A) –Working cloths Safety class EN 61482- 1-2 (ENV 50354) class 1 –Closed shoes –Leather Gloves –Helmet with face shield (case by case) –Never work alone!

Personnel Safety (Cloths 4) Working inside of danger area (protection through distance, LV, Fuse ≥ 200A, MV, HV) –Working cloths Safety class EN 61482- 1-2 (ENV 50354) class 1 –Closed shoes –Safety Gloves –Helmet with face shield –Safety coat EN 61482-1-2 (ENV 50354) –Never work alone!
9
Overheating protection (1) Water cooling is monitored twice –Detection of low water flow in outlet –Temperature sensor on heatsink Forced Air cooling needs to be monitored –High failure rate of fans –Direct monitoring with switch in the airflow –Indirect monitoring with temperature sensors on heatsink
10
Overheating protection (2) Magnetic Devices (chokes, transformers) Conservative design with moderate winding temperatures Fans must be monitored
11
Protection against accidental contact (1) All Power Supply racks are locked! All hot blank parts must be covered
12
Protection against accidental contact (2)
13
Protection against accidental contact (3) Door Switches –… are usually no safety elements –… unless certified and directly switching (not via PLC)
