Work Ability Program Contacts: Carl Pond 444-4354 Objectives l Provide unemployed New Brunswickers who are being case managed with an opportunity for skill development by matching them with appropriate eligible employers. l Help prepare unemployed New Brunswickers for long-term sustainable employment. l Reduce the number of individuals on income support.

Funding The program provides 100% wage reimbursement for temporary employment exposure/experience opportunities to a maximum of $6.25/hr to non-profit organizations, municipalities, provincial government departments/agencies and private sector businesses. Delivery Structure l Individuals gain access to the Work Ability program after having established an employment action plan with an Employment Counselor l Employers interested in providing a participant with an opportunity for skill development, job exposure or job experience can register by submitting an inventory registration form at any of our regional offices or at Central Office.

Workforce Expansion Program Contacts: Carl Pond 444-4354,Alfred Doucet 444-4851 Objectives l To stimulate the creation of long term employment l Create opportunities for unemployed individuals by providing financial assistance to eligible employers. l To assist unemployed individuals in securing permanent employment. l To help individuals create jobs for themselves through self-employment. l To reduce the number of individuals on income support (EI and SA). l To stimulate the hiring of post secondary graduates in New Brunswick

Employer Wage Subsidy Eligible participants - Private sector companies - Non-profit organizations Funding -This component provides partial wage subsidies to private sector or non-profit organizations for the creation of permanent employment. Regular: 50% for 12- 24 weeks Targeted: 70% for 24 wks (SAR, Disabled, Aboriginal, visible minorities ) Post Secondary Grad.: 70% for 40 weeks (first exp. in their field of study & within 2 years of degree completion) Seasonal (3-9 months of work): 50% for 10-14 wks

Self Employment Benefits (S.E.B.) Contact: Peter MacLean 444-5868 Objectives: Objectives: ` To assist unemployed New Brunswickers, interested in self-employment, in starting their own businesses Eligible Participants Eligible Participants - Persons currently receiving Employment Insurance benefits or persons who have received EI in the past 3 years or 5 years if it was a maternity or parental claim

Funding Funding -If your business plan is approved you may continue to receive your EI benefits for the duration of your claim, or a provincially determined rate once your claim has ended, up to a maximum of 45 weeks

Successes There were 81 participants approved for the Self Employment Benefit Program in 2003. 60-70% were successful and able to continue their business after the first year.

Training and Skills Development Program Contact 444-4620 Objectives To ensure that case managed individuals, whose employment action plan identifies skill development as being necessary, have access to funding to assist them in achieving their goal. Eligible Participants Individuals who: Individuals who: - are EI eligible; - are unemployed, underemployed or employment threatened; - are case managed; - require skills training in order to access employment. - have been out of secondary school for more than 3 years and have an attachment to the labour force

Funding l The program provides funding to approved participants to cover up to 50% of training related costs and replacement of E.I. upon termination of benefits.

Adjustment Services Adjustment Services Eligible Participants Eligible Participants - Private sector employers - Non-profit organizations - Community based groups - First Nations Funding Funding - Financial assistance in support of the Adjustment Committee’s activities, normally at 50% for a Private sector employer.

Funding l The program provides $6.25/hr to non-profit organizations and provincial government departments and agencies. l The Student Entrepreneurship Component provides a loan guarantee of up to $3,000 to start a summer business.

Delivery Structure l Although employers can submit their applications to DPETL’s regional offices, the requests are processed at TED Central Office for the Summer Employment Placement and Co-operative Placement components. l The applications for the Student Entrepreneurship component are received and processed at the regional offices. Employment Counselling Career Decision Making and Planning Individuals can: take stock of their skills and aptitudes, discover their work preferences, identify employment sectors offering good opportunities, determine their career goals, and develop and carry out an employment action plan

Education upgrading - we can help individuals get the education they need to get a job. Training - we can help individuals get the skills they require to attain their career goals. Work Experience - we can help individuals explore career choices, make contacts, develop their skills or acquire work experience.
