Call for Papers www.visions.org.au Safety Institute of Australia Qld/NT Division Occupational Health and Safety Conference 2012 Gold Coast 29 – 31 August 2012 About the Conference The Safety Institute of Australia (Qld/NT Division) is very proud to announce its 20 th annual Occupational Health and Safety Conference to be hosted at the Outrigger Surfers Paradise, from 29-31 August 2012. The Visions Organising Committee is now pleased to invite papers from OHS practitioners, academics and health and safety professionals, for inclusion in the Conference program. Visions 2012 aims to feature industry experts discussing key industry topics. The following themes are descriptive and open for interpretation to inspire speakers who may not have considered delivering their papers at a Visions Conference. Clear and Present Danger This stream is open to all topics that may be considered "Clear and Present Danger". We anticipate topics could relate to many areas such as engineering safety systems; high risk hazards; and foreseeable dangers. In addition we also are looking for topics relating to present day issues or the "hot topics" such as human factors; disaster response/recovery; or the impacts of harmonisation. Consultation, Cooperation and Coordination This stream is open to all topics that may be related to consultation and communication issues; management systems; and harmonisation. We anticipate topics could relate to contractor management; construction; OHS consultation; and education and training. We also are looking for topics relating to management/organisational behaviour; human resource; and contractual/procurement issues. Below the surface This stream is open to all topics that may be interpreted as "below the surface". We anticipate topics could relate to many areas; for example underground with research and issues within the mining and energy industries. However, we are also are looking for topics relating to the hidden or unforeseen dangers; and in particular 'below the epidermis' with topics relating to OHS issues; the human body; and psychology.
