When she keeps choosing Hannah over her commitments to family members—to say goodbye to Jackson as he leaves for college, to attend Lilly’s (Emily Osment) long-anticipated sweet-16 party or her grandmother’s birthday celebration — it is clear Miley’s beginning to forget why the Hannah Montana secret was created in the first place. 14 The film’s numerous songs are tightly woven into the fabric of the story and the characters, which is why the film feels like a musical without being one. Hannah Montana The Movie ©2009 Walt Disney Pictures. Review © David Bruce

THE ACTUAL SANTA MONICA PIER Filmmakers admit it was the location they were most concerned about in terms of media and crowds. Hannah Montana The Movie ©2009 Walt Disney Pictures. Review © David Bruce

25% Positive Consensus voice: "It's all predictable, most of it is poorly acted, and the back-and-forth between serious scenes and absurdist slapstick as bizarre as anything this side of a "Green Acres" episode is dizzying. But when Hannah - or Miley - steps up to the mike, it's a different story." -- Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic Hannah Montana The Movie ©2009 Walt Disney Pictures. Review © David Bruce

“It’s super important to stay true to yourself and your family and stay in touch with who you are.” --Miley Cyrus Hannah Montana The Movie ©2009 Walt Disney Pictures. Review © David Bruce

Basically Hannah Montana The Movie asks the questions, “Who am I
Basically Hannah Montana The Movie asks the questions, “Who am I? Where Am I going? What is important?” Self identity and purpose of being are certainly important matters. Despite the importance of theme the critics have panned the film. However, the fans made this the best opening day of all-time for a G-rated live-action film ever! There is a real disjunction here with the critics. I think I’ll go with the fans on this one. Apparently the critics must think they have worked through the important self-identity issues of life and hence overlook the importance of this film on the lives of millions of young fans! Here then is the message of the film: Your self-identity is connected to your family, historical roots and to the direction you are headed. As simple as it may seem that is a very good statement to be made in a teeny-bopper film, don’t you think? Hannah Montana The Movie ©2009 Walt Disney Pictures. Review © David Bruce

“The value of identity of course is that so often with it comes purpose.”  --Richard R. Grant

“The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.” --Morrie Schwartz “Tuesdays With Morrie” Hannah Montana The Movie ©2009 Walt Disney Pictures. Review © David Bruce
