Jesus’ Eschatological Ethics and the Kingdom of God
Past: Jesus ushers in the Kingdom of God. He provides us with a model to follow defined by his teachings, his many miracles and most of all his death and resurrection. The foundation of the Kingdom of God, modelled by Jesus is built upon love, compassion, forgiveness, equity, justice, sacrifice, and respect

Jesus’ Eschatological Ethics and the Kingdom of God
Present: With the help of the Holy Spirit (GRACE), we show glimpses of the Kingdom of God on earth. We are the “salt of the earth and the light of the world.” We are living at the time of the Church – working towards building the Kingdom of God and ushering in the end times. This is called Eschatological Ethics. We are called to love and serve God and our neighbours. We are searching for infinite goodness and happiness in this world. However, such a state of infinite perfection is unattainable in this world because of sin. The Church is both graced and sinful.

Future: Because we are unable to fulfill our longing for the Kingdom of God in the present, we look forward to the end of time and Jesus’ return in glory. This is known as Parousia or Jesus’ second coming where he will “come to judge the living and the dead.” This infinite perfection is what we look forward to and it provides us with hope.
