“He stilled a storm with one command. He raised the dead with one proclamation. He rerouted the history of the world with one life.” Max Lucado
2
Domestic Jesus Jesus – our concepts of Him as a man often strive to keep Him somewhat soft, more palatable, less fanatical and appealing to all! Jesus…. He could hold the universe in His palm but gave it up to float in the womb of a maiden
3
Domestic Jesus Questions to be considered: Has our concept of Jesus, the God man made Him safe, sane and logical in our minds? Is Jesus predictable? Is Jesus offensive? Have we “domesticated” Him in our thoughts & expectations? How “Tame” Will The Return of Jesus Be? “Who is it you are looking for?” Jesus in John 20

Domestic Jesus The “Caught Up” aka “Rapture” Jesus ▪ 1 Thess. 4:17 Greek word – “harpazo” = to seize, pluck/pull out by force Latin word – "rapiemur" = rapture The Millennial reign of Jesus The Tribulation The return of Jesus to the earth The most notable of theologians do not agree on the timing of the end time events; I will not presume to tell you when, only “that” these things will happen. To speak about the enormity of the second coming of Jesus, we must briefly discuss 4 separate events of the end times to provide a look into the stage of events to which He comes.
5
Domestic Jesus He WILL return again His purpose: to save There are those who distort these facts and deny the true purpose of the second coming of Christ. Acts 1:11 Hebrews 9:28

Domestic Jesus HIS COMING WILL BE SUDDEN: "So be prepared, for you don't know what day your Lord is coming. 43 "Just as a man can prevent trouble from thieves by keeping watch for them, 44 so you can avoid trouble by always being ready for my unannounced return. “ His coming will be expected by the followers of Jesus: “ When is all this going to happen? I really don't need to say anything about that, dear brothers, 2 for you know perfectly well that no one knows. That day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night…. 4 But, dear brothers, you are not in the dark about these things, and you won't be surprised as by a thief when that day of the Lord comes. 5 For you are all children of the light and of the day, and do not belong to darkness and night. 6 So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Watch for his return and stay sober.” Matt. 24:42-44 1 Thess. 5:1-2; 4-6

Domestic Jesus 25 But I've given you fair warning. 26 "So if they say, 'Run to the country and see him arrive!' or, 'Quick, get downtown, see him come!' don't give them the time of day. 27 The Arrival of the Son of Man isn't something you go to see. He comes like swift lightning to you! 28 Whenever you see crowds gathering, think of carrion vultures circling, moving in, hovering over a rotting carcass. You can be quite sure that it's not the living Son of Man pulling in those crowds. Matt. 24:25-28 [The Message]

Domestic Jesus For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a mighty shout and with the soul-stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet-call of God. And the believers who are dead will be the first to rise to meet the Lord. 17 Then we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. 18 So comfort and encourage each other with this news.” The Catching Up 1 Thess. 4: 16-18
