Going for Growth Conference November 21st 2009 Welcome to the

Worship Led by Jean Pearson

Worship Reading from Ephesians 1,18 to 20,22

Prayer The Lord is here, His Spirit is with us. We need not fear, is Spirit is with us. We are surrounded by love, His Spirit is with us. We are immersed in peace, His Spirit is with us. We rejoice in hope, His Spirit is with us. We travel in faith, His Spirit is with us. We live in eternity, His Spirit is with us. The Lord is in this place, His Spirit is with us.

Hymn: Ye Servants of God Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim, and publish abroad His wonderful name; the name all-victorious of Jesus extol; His kingdom is glorious, and rules over all. God ruleth on high, almighty to save; and still He is nigh, His presence we have; the great congregation His triumph shall sing, ascribing salvation to Jesus our King. Words: Charles Wesley Music: Charles H H Parry

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed by your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen

Hymn: Great is the Darkness Great is the darkness that covers the earth, Oppression, injustice and pain. Nations are slipping in hopeless despair, Though many have come in Your name. Watching while sanity dies, Touched by the madness and lies. Come, Lord Jesus, Pour out Your Spirit we pray. Come, Lord Jesus, Pour out Your Spirit on us today.

Hymn: Great is the Darkness May now Your church rise with power and love, This glorious gospel proclaim. In every nation salvation will come To those who believe in Your name. Help us bring light to this world That we might speed Your return. Come, Lord Jesus, Pour out Your Spirit we pray. Come, Lord Jesus, Pour out Your Spirit on us today.

Hymn: Great is the Darkness Great celebrations on that final day When out of the heavens You come. Darkness will vanish, All sorrows will end, And rulers will bow at Your throne. Our great commission complete, Then face to face we shall meet. Come, Lord Jesus, Pour out Your Spirit we pray. Come, Lord Jesus, Pour out Your Spirit on us today. 15 Scores of 1 Previous vicar not into mission: Resistance to spirituality and prayer Vicar believes MAP is good for Urban work, but not for him now; prefers own process Previous vicar did not take MAP seriously - frustration: but MAP is an excellent initiative Has been doing own process since 2001 Have not engaged in the MAP process, but we are doing various ecumenical and community projects Started some good things, but too much on planning and not enough on doing - let the spirit move; have appreciated road shows Opposition to joining two parishes led to anti-diocesan feelings and resistance Parishioners struggle to understand MAP concept or engage with the process; many see MAP as a one-off initiative
